Smell the Bluebells

KJ Ecology Ltd

A lot has happened since I last wrote. Had a lovely walk in some woods next to Grafam Water and the smell of Native Bluebells was lovely. Not to be confused with Spanish Bluebells which have an upright stem, pale blue flower and no scent. Later in that week I was walking in a wood near Thoroton and saw some chippings on the footpath. I could hear a woodpecker chipping away and when I looked up saw the hole. Was there about 10 minutes, but the woodpecker was busy finishing off its nest, so never saw it. Later that day I was examining a hole and all of a sudden I saw a fox cub come towards the entrance of it, saw me, then disappeared back down the hole. I wish I could download my memory of it - truly amazing. That evening was doing a bat survey when I heard something in the hedge, thought it was the local farm cat or something, then a Badger shot past me. Such an amazing day, but been with wildlife is like that.
