Nesting birds

The nesting season is upon us and sometimes they are found in unexpected places. If you look carefully in the first picture you can actually see a female Mallard on her nest. Well camouflaged and not in dense scrub or cover. This is next to the A45 and the vegetation was due to be cleared. It is a good site for the Mallard as there is a ditch near by and the traffic would have protected her from predators. The second picture shows the eggs.

If you require a nesting bird survey, this can still be done following Government guidelines on social distancing etc. For a chat on carrying out a nesting bird survey, please call on 07807 655237.
