Spring Flowers

KJ Ecology Ltd

What a wonderful time of year, especially if you do not suffer from hay fever. The Hawthorn is out making the hedgerows look white in places. If you don’t suffer from Hawthorn, I recommend having a sniff of the scent, Hawthorn flowers smell nice. Another recommendation I have is the English Bluebell with its gorgeous scent, iridescent Blue flower hanging down. What is not to like. Sadly the English Bluebell is in decline due to the Spanish Bluebell and its hybrids with English Bluebells. All inferior to the true English Bluebell.

Other Summer specialists to look out for that have returned from Africa are the Cuckoo and the Swift or screachers as they are sometimes called due to them screeching when flying around. They are actually calling to each other.

If you need land or buildings surveying for wildlife, nesting bird surveys, newt surveys including eDNA for Great Crested Newts, now is the time to do it. For a free chat call me on 07807 655237. KJ Ecology abides by the social distancing rules and government guidelines.
