It is easy to walk by and only notice the large things about. Alright some people miss these as well, as they are in a World of their own. But if you get chance though and have the time, have a closer look around you. Look amongst the leaves and even look underneath a leaf. You can be surprised what you find. It is easy to spot the butterflies, bees etc., but there are plenty of other species about. Here is a collection of insects I found (well the ones that were easy to photograph - there were plenty more from spiders to micro moths). I was only an hour and found over 30 species of insect. All these insects provide food for other species. Have included a picture of a Blue Tit sitting on its eggs. When the chicks have hatched the adults will be bringing in a steady supply of insects for their young. This can be as much as once every 5 minutes. That is a lot of insects required to raise the young chicks. Some people see insects as pests, but not all of them are and they all have their role to play in the great scheme of things. So next time you are out and about, have an extra hunt around and surprise yourself.
