As I have been wandering around the countryside, it isn't just the larger species I notice such as Badger, Roe deer or even birds such as Bullfinch. I have noticed a Grass-snake sunning itself before it goes off hunting. Have seen various bees feeding especially on the Spear Thistle such as Common Carder Bumble Bee. Have also seen a Queen Red-tailed Bumble bee being mated by a male. Very rare to see. Have also seen various insects mating as well such as the 7-spot Ladybird. Have also seen ladybird larvae which will transform into a ladybird soon. There are also various Hoverflies which mimic dangerous insects such as bees and wasps, so that they do not get eaten. There are also various spiders about waiting to feed off all these insects. So instead of rushing about, take time to explore the undergrowth and you will be amazed at what you will see.
