Wildflower Meadow

Wild flower meadow full of insects

This wild flower meadow in Ashby cum Fenby used to be just a boring plain grassfield. The Jacksons asked Ben Burgess of Creative Nature UK Ltd (www.creativenatureuk.com) to create this into a wild flower meadow. The results are amazing. You can mainly see Black Knapweed, but there is Meadowsweet, Bird's-foot-trefoil, Lady's Bedstraw, Ox-eye Daisy, Meadow Vetchling, Southern Marsh Orchid and the list goes on. All these flowers and grasses mean that there are hundreds of pollinators. There were 8 species of Butterfly from Common Blue to Painted Lady, along with about 10 bee species, various hoverflies and daytime flying moths. The night time Moths were still sleeping safely. It is amazing what can be done with a little bit of space and it creates such a wildlife haven.
